M11 of NGC6705 is een open sterrenhoop in het sterrenbeeld Schild en wordt ook wel de Wild Duck Cluster genoemd, hoewel ik er geen wilde eend in zie. De "Zout en Peper Cluster" is een meer toepasselijke naam. M11 bevindt zich in de Scutum sterrenwolk. Dit heldere deel van de Melkweg is gemakkelijk met het blote oog te zien vanaf donkere locaties tijdens de zomer en toont met een verrekijker duizenden en duizenden sterren. Het is een van de rijkste en dichtste delen van de Melkweg.
